Wordpress 2.0.1 released
A week ago. I think I need to upgrade my blog. But that will prolly happen later. As of now, I am preparing for what looks like a trip to Bhutan. Tawang has been ditched, because of the Inner Line Permit which takes 3 weeks to be issued.
Btw, Bangalore Shutterbugs have released their newsletter - BeyondShotz. Interesting read.

the tawang inner line permit takes one day. you can get it while sight-seeing in kolkata or guwahati.
the problem with tawang is the the long and bumpy journey. i’d say it’s worth it though.
as far as i know, the permissions for entering bhutan are far more difficult to procure, unless you get hold of one of the authorised travel agents.
the royal government of bhutan strictly controls the number and modes of tourist entry. so while the relatively untouched country is more tempting, it might be painful getting in.

Yell, you are a bringer of such timely and useful info. Will checkout the option of going to Tawang while in Calcutta. But various online sources tell me that it takes 3 weeks for the Inner Line Permit, while people who have been there tell me entering Bhutan is not a big deal once you get to Phuentsholing. I guess the best way to find out is by speaking to the concerned authorities in Cal.
